Summer

The wind blows and moves the waves effortlessly
The warm air makes the chill of the water feel refreshing
I can feel the prickly green carpet underneath my feet
As I run and jump off of the pontoon
When I’m in the water the safety of the pontoon is gone
I stay under the water as long as I can
Until my lungs are screaming for air
I surface with a gasp taking in the new air
Looking down into the black murky water
I can’t even see my toes
A weed comes by and brushes against my leg
I feel a little fish nimble on my toe
I lay back and relax and enjoy the feeling of summer

Favorite Excerpt from a film

My favorite excerpt is from the film Waterboy with Adam Sandler. In the movie Waterboy if you have not seen it Bobby Boucher is the main character. Bobby Boucher is a total mama's boy and believes anything that his mother tells him. In my favorite scene Bobby is in a college class and attempts to answer a question.
Teacher: Now, is there anybody here that can tell me why most alligators are abnormally aggressive? Anyone? Yes sir, you sir.
Bobby: (stands up)Mama says that alligators are ornery ‘cause they got all them teeth but no tooth brush. (class laughs)
Other student: ... because they have an enlarged medulla oblongata.
Teacher: That is correct. ... medulla, ob-lon-ga-ta! Now, is there anybody here that can tell me where happiness comes from? Anyone? Alright, let’s hear what Mama has to say on the subject.
Bobby:(stands up again) Mama say that happiness is from magic rays of sunshine that come down when you’re feeling blue.
Teacher: Well folks, Mama’s wrong again.
Bobby: No Colonel Sanders, you’re wrong. (class laughs) Mama’s right.
Teacher: (Bobby runs to the door) Something’s wrong with his medula oblongata!

Point of View

Third person limited
It was the night of my 17th birthday, and I was feeling pretty upset. My friends had told me all day at school yesterday that they had this enormous surprise for me. It was now 9 o’clock and I had not heard from any of them all day. When I called their phones they did not answer, or respond to my texts. I was talking to my other friend on the phone telling her that I was upset they forgot about their surprise for me. She said she could come and pick me up when all of a sudden a bunch of people charged into my room wearing masks. I started to scream because these boys whose identity I did not know started to blind fold me and tie up my hands. I started to relax a little when I heard Jessa Justen’s laughter. So this was their surprise for me, I was extremely happy that they had remembered after all.
The random boys in masks carried me out to a random car and put me in the back of a trunk, could hear the held in giggles from my friends outside. I thought they would close it and then let me out right away when all of a sudden, I felt the car start to move. I started laughing hysterically thinking that they were going to drive around the block and let me out. I could hear people inside of the car mimicking my laugh, which only made me laugh harder. When the minutes started to pass by, I had no clue where we were going. I started to untie my arms, and pull of my blindfold, when the car shut off. I heard whispering outside and the counting of 1...2...3… Then all of a sudden the trunk flew open, and I was sprayed with silly string all over. I was then carried into the house, and awkwardly carried down the stairs. When all of a sudden I was dropped into another dark room, my blind fold was ripped off, and the door slammed shut.
When my eyes started to come into focus, I was able to see the outlines of deer heads, and turkey feathers. I ran to the door and tried to open it but they were holding the door closed so I couldn’t get out. Eventually they let me out, and a mysterious hooded figure was standing in front of me with a glowing magic wand. She was granting me with my birthday wish, when I looked around to see everyone else’s reaction. I could see Marcus’s embarrassment and assumed his mother was holding the wand. I saw Makayla, Jessa, Courtney, Brittney, John, and Brett they were all laughing hysterically and all looked pleased with themselves for pulling off this surprise. This was one of the greatest birthdays I have ever had.

Third person omniscient
Ayriel’s birthday was right around the corner, and her friends wanted to give her the surprise of her life. They all knew that she scared easily, and knew that it wouldn’t be too hard to freak her out. They wanted her to be extremely surprised so they ignored her phone calls and texts all day so she wouldn't be expecting anything and set their plan in motion. Once everyone was ready they headed off to Ayriel’s house. They parked infront of her neighbors house so she did not them and expect their arrival.
The group felt like secret agents as they ran against the side of the house and over the chain link fence into Ayriel’s back yard. They knew that one they were inside her yard, the dogs would go crazy and they would have to act fast. Their plan was to send in Marcus, Brett, and John in with masks on to tie Ayriel up and walk her out. Jessa was going to be the only girl in the room, because the girls knew that once they saw Ayriel they would not be able to keep a straight face. Little did they know that Jessa couldn’t even keep a straight face. When the boys tried to get in through the screen door it broke and fell inside and clattered against the floor. Brittney asked if anyone had warned Ayriel’s mom that they were coming and no one had. When the girls looked in the house Ayriel’s mom was just hysterically laughing. Then Ayriel was being walked out of the house all tied up, and asking what was going on. The group knew that they were putting her in a trunk they just didn’t know which one. Ayriel didn’t even realize that she was being walked around in circles while everyone ran around trying to open the trunk, and decide which one she was being put into. When Ayriel was being shoved into the trunk, her neighbors had came outside and told them not to bring her back.
They had put Ayriel into the trunk of the boys car, and all the girls had gotten in to the other car. Marcus, John, and Brett were mimicking Ayriel’s laughter the entire drive to Marcus’s house. Ayriel had never been to Marcus’s house before this so the group knew that she would be very confused. They had planned to put her into his hunting room, and hold the door shut. Once they finally let Ayriel out of the room, something happened that they did not plan for. Marcus’s mom had come down the stairs wearing a cape, and was carrying a light up glow wanted. She wanted to give Ayriel her birthday wishes, and actually made their surprise better. There plan had gone successful, and was a hit with the whole crowd.

A Fascinating Discovery

On a warm summer afternoon, in the hiking trails at Hidden Valley Park, in Savage, Minnesota. Ayriel, Marcus, and I went on one of our fun adventures. We followed the trails in Hidden Valley Park until we reached a fork in the road. You could either go down and walk near the river, or go up wooden stairs to a higher hiking trail. We choose to go down and walk along the river. The river was full of giant rocks and cold flowing water. We walked for hours and soon the sun began to set.
We knew that it was getting late so we had to figure out how to get back to where we started.  The river was down in a valley, so in order to get back up you had to climb up a very steep hill. As we climbed this steep hill, we were trying our best not to slide back down the hill. The stick burs, and thorn weeds made it incredibly challenging. The hill we decided to climb looked like it led right into someone’s back yard. But before we made it to the top, we saw a small platform on the hill. When we made it to the platform in the hill we rested for awhile and soon we discovered something that we had never seen before.
A large green circle was growing out of the ground, close to where we were sitting. It had thorns on the stem, and looked like it was cornels of large green corn on it. When we picked the seeds that were growing out of the stem, they broke off a lot like corn does when you pick it straight from the field. The outside of the cornel appeared to be green but the inside was a bright yellow. We decided that we would probably never know what this fascinating thing was that we had discovered in the middle of nowhere.  We decided to leave it back where it was and we continued on our way, to try and figure out how to get out of Hidden Valley Park.
